I have known Don Reed for over 25 years in a professional capacity. I have worked with him on many assignments concerning, in particular, quarry matters, sand deposits, land fill and waste management businesses. Many of these assignments have been litigation related, after involving complex financial matters, rate of return issues and consequential loss assessments.

Don’s wide ranging practical experience, both in Australia and overseas, his professional expertise across a wide range of quarry products and land fill uses, his detailed knowledge of operating cost and commodity price issues, and his detailed familiarity with knowledge of geological, and environmental matters have contributed greatly to very significant client successes in all the matters his firm and mine have been involved in.

Don is hard working, practical and has an extensive knowledge of the latest developments in the industries in which he works. He is friendly, easy to work with and very good at what he does.

Rod Huntley
Partner, Groundwork Plus

Groundwork Plus is a long established resource, environmental and land use planning consultancy specialising in the quarry and mining sector, based in Brisbane, Queensland, and established by David Kershaw in 1980.

Over the last seven years I have worked closely with Don Reed on approximately twenty five quarry projects across several states including Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and also internationally.

As a Director of Groundwork Plus we are always looking to align ourselves with consultants who provide practical outcomes, which contain a high level of strategic thought.  Don provides this strategic vision to the projects I have been involved in with him, by designing small to large scale quarry development plans, geology and valuation appraisals which consider all the issues, and which add real value to any operation from a common sense perspective.

The other real benefit of working with Don is that he has an unparalleled wealth of knowledge, the value of which simply cannot be understated.  When this depth of understanding of industry issues is combined with his quarry planning and geology ability means the outcome will be of the highest calibre and considered from every angle.  In reality, with Don you get a mining engineer, geologist, geotechnical engineer, environmental consultant and town planner rolled into one person.

Those in the industry understand that success is only partially based on short term initiatives and that real profitability is driven by endeavour, effort and long term strategic focus.  With Don you get that in spades.  Should you need a mining or quarry consultant then I cannot recommend him highly enough.  He has set the benchmark incredibly high for the rest of us.
